چکیده

Self-organization has been investigated for long in a very broad range of areas. However, only till recently has self-managing and self-organizing computing received intensive attention. The purpose of this paper is to discuss some of important basic problems of selfmanaging and self-organizing computing, including the essence of self-managing computing, generic architecture of computing, real challenge of selfmanaging and self-organizing computing, and feedback-control point of view for self-managing and self-organizing computing. After a discussion of the essence of self-managing computing, the paper puts forward a generic architecture of computing processes. Then, the paper argues that the real challenges of selfmanaging and self-organizing computing are from open complex distributed systems. To address these challenges of self-managing and self-organizing computing, the paper presents a new definition of selforganization, from a structural perspective, and puts forward feedback-control framework for holonic selforganization of multi-agent systems.

Small Open Chemical Systems Theory and Its Implications to Darwinian Evolutionary Dynamics, Complex Self-Organization and Beyond

The study of biological cells in terms of mesoscopic, nonequilibrium, nonlinear, stochastic dynamics of open chemical systems provides a paradigm for other complex, self-organizing systems with ultra-fast stochastic fluctuations, short-time deterministic nonlinear dynamics, and long-time evolutionary behavior with exponentially distributed rare events, discrete jumps among punctuated equilibria...

Breakdown of Dynamics - (In)Stabilities, Frustration and Critical Transitions

Systems of many interacting units abound in the social and natural sciences as well as engineering. Networks of friendships influence our opinions, systems of atoms and molecules assemble into regular crystals or amorphous glasses, vehicles on streets create distributed traffic patterns, moving or not. Most of such systems are dynamic and all are complex in the sense that collective system stat...

Self-organization Combining Incentives and Risk Management for a Dynamic Service-Oriented Multi-agent System

Companies are nowadays placed in very complex and dynamic environments, making their competitiveness mandatory. This competitiveness can also be achieved through the reconfiguration of systems’ network. In this paper, high level of self-organization of service-oriented multi-agent systems is explored, aiming to achieve more trustworthy and automatic reconfiguration processes, in dynamic and ope...

Computational Sociology for Systems "In th - Mozilla

It’s generally agreed that future software systems should be distributed, open, self-organizing, scalable, and robust. Fully distributed systems can’t rely on centralized control, and open systems can’t ensure that malicious or selfish components don’t invade them. The requirement for high scalability means that systems should run at least as well, and ideally better, when scaled to millions of...
